The Last Day of 2009!

by on Dec.31, 2009, under Personal

OMG, today is the last day of 2009. It started off with 4WDing up toward Helidon, Esk, Crows Nest and then Toowoomba. The area around Crows Nest has a fair bit to do with the national park nearby, but sadly none of that was able to be properly explored by foot due to rain, yes that stuff that falls out of the sky. Toowoomba and Crows Nest badly need the rain though, so I’m happy they got it, and we can always come back another day to fully explore the area.

What we were able to do and when I mean we, I mean my family and another family who went with us, what we were able to do was to find geocaches. Geocaches are little hidden treasures with a notepad inside them, that are hidden all across the world in sneaky places (there’s several in Cleveland for example) and your mission to to get the GPS co-ordinates from the website, read the clues and then head for those co-ordinates and try to find the treasure and log in the notepad you found it! There was one about 2 minutes outside of Gatton and one in Toowoomba.

Now as I sit at home writing this post, I’m watching Shaun McAllaff’s show on the TV and listening to 97.3 FM’s New Year’s Eve Party Mix which is commercial free from 6pm-6am – 12 hours of nonstop party music :D

So yea – no big parties, just me, my computer, my radio, my TV, my family, a quick chat to Ashlee, Alistair, Sara, Nick and Gary on the computer and the internet is the way I’m going to finish 2009, and I think it’s just awesome.

Have a great party everyone who’s partying. May 2010 be much better than 2009 was!

Oh and my 2010 resolution is 1280×800 if you wanted to know. Thank you for Kevin the ATM for that awesome idea!

Not At All What I Expected…

by on Dec.30, 2009, under Personal, Technical

Today I decided to start the process of uploading my other website “The Forking Spoonfan Wiki” which I created after my favourite radio talkback personality finished up his talkback show in November 2008. When I went to upload the database (because all of my websites including Andrew Tech Help and this blog use a database to store the actual content of the site) I found is significantly larger than it should have been.

After looking through the database I found inside the RSGallery table (where the comments for all the photos on the site are stored), that there was 6730 spam comments linking to Viagra, Porn, Spyware and other assorted nasty websites – spanning back all the way to March 2009. I never checked the photo galleries, so I did not know this was occurring.

The webhost then probably thought I had put those there myself and therefore was breaking my Terms of Service and cancelled all my accounts, causing me 1 month data loss on 2 sites and complete data loss on my 3rd site.

So yea, that’s probably why my websites were taken offline, definitely not what I expected – you learn something new every day I guess. The Forking Spoonfan Wiki should be back online by Sunday 3rd Jan (exactly 1 year after it was first launched) with photo commenting disabled!

Hello world & Welcome To My New Blog

by on Dec.28, 2009, under Personal

Welcome To My Brand New Blog Everyone :D

As you may know, in November, my site Andrew Tech Help was taken down without notice by my then free webhost 000webhost. After this occurred I made the decision to move to paid hosting and for Christmas I received my account at the new host – JustHost!

Due to moving my site to a more capable server, I am now able to add a new section to my website, a blog.  I hope to update this blog  fairly regularly and this blog will just contain thoughts about things that are happening in the world for me. So common topics will probably involve school , radio stations and technology as well as errata in news and politics.

So if you plan to regularly read my blog, then I thank you for this and hope you enjoy the content. If you wish to leave a comment on anything I post, then go ahead – just keep it clean or the spam filters will remove it.

Andrew
